The EU Council has adopted a set of legislative acts on the Europe Horizon program for the period 2021-2027

The Council of the European Union adopted on 10 May 2021 a set of legislative acts aimed at complementing the legislative framework around Horizon Europe, the EU’s Framework Program for Research and Innovation 2021-2027.

These are the following:

● decision establishing the specific program for the implementation of the Horizon Europe program, which sets out the operational objectives and types of activities for the implementation of the Horizon Europe program;

● a regulation on the Euratom Program which complements the Horizon Europe program, ensuring the continuation of research and training in the nuclear field, with a focus on the continuous improvement of nuclear safety, security and radiation protection;

● amendments to the Regulation on the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), which aim mainly at strengthening financial viability and greater openness of knowledge and innovation communities;

● decision on the Strategic Innovation Agenda of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, setting out the priority areas and strategy of the EIT for the period 2021-2027, defining the objectives of the EIT, key actions, operation, expected results and resources.
