Software for competitive SMEs
The “Software for Competitive SMEs” project was created after the Romanian Association for Electronic and Software Industry – Timişoara Branch has made a simple observation: in the West Romania Timiș and Caraș-Severin Counties SME economic environment, as well as in the rest of the country, the use of software application is really poor. Another finding is that although there are quite numerous companies in the region doing software development business, especially in Timişoara, these companies are first of all oriented towards collaboration with customers from abroad.
Following discussions with our partners from Zrenjanin, the result was that the situation in the three counties of Serbia covered by the project is somewhat similar, maybe even more serious, because of a lower number of companies carrying out local activities in the area of software development.
The conclusion is that the large majority of small and medium enterprises, from the two sides of the Romanian-Serbian border do not benefit of higher visibility, communication efficiency, quality of business process management and control instruments, for both production and commercialisation of resultig products or services, which can be achieved by involving software applications dedicated and adapted for the specific of this category of companies.
On the other hand, the need for economic and social development of the regions, counties and towns imposes besides increased economic capacity to export goods and services, development of synergies and collaboration between enterprises. This may lead to increased economic competitiveness both at the level of each enterprise and at regional level in comparison to other regions. A simple way to generate such intra-regional collaboration is represented by facilitating business links of manufacturing companies or companies involved in commercial activities with companies developing software applications.
The “Software for Competitive SMEs” project is aiming for this result by proposing simple tools to facilitate, on one hand, a better understanding by business managers and owners in the region of concepts from the IT & C field and, on the other hand, their contact with specialized companies that offer software products, services and solutions adapted to the current and future needs of IT&C usage by SMEs.
